The Bitsbox leadership team is seeking an entrepreneurial and creative Head of Growth, with a varied leadership background in direct-to-consumer environments that reflects not only continued personal growth, but also a history of driving change and excellence in growth-oriented organizations.
The Head of Growth will dramatically and thoughtfully grow and professionalize marketing initiatives in alignment with the organizational plan. This is a highly analytical and entrepreneurial role working alongside Bitsbox's CEO and COO. You must be open to trying anything, ruthless about digging into the data and nixing projects that don’t work, and aggressive about doubling and tripling down on tactics that work. As you succeed, you will be expected to build and lead Bitsbox's growth team.
THE BIG THINGS YOU'LL DO: Lead overall growth strategy with aim to double revenue year over year Own and allocate budget, balancing ambitious experiments with ruthless culling; Find, test, optimize, and grow paid acquisition channels, Test, refine and execute unpaid growth opportunities and SEO; Build ambitious monthly, quarterly, and annual plans for your KPIs and execute on those plans; Analyze performance and report to the leadership team on the health, opportunities, and risks of Bitsbox's marketing efforts; Collaborate with our design team and outside design partners to create marketing messages and campaigns; Conduct business and financial analysis of new opportunities; Assess where we can leverage partners and third-party services; lead negotiations and manage those relationships; Lead the charge toward massive market share growth.
OTHER THINGS YOU'LL DO: Collaborate with our customer support team to continuously improve customer retention; Manage and mentor junior employees on the marketing team; Stay aware of trends and opportunities in the marketing landscape; Advise the CEO and COO on the overall strategy of the company, through the lens of revenue; Develop strategies to build community and engagement around the Bitsbox product and brand.
MISSION CRITICAL OBJECTIVES: Develop, implement and manage a strategic marketing plan, as well as the associated directives and KPI’s to achieve that plan; Quickly develop a deep understanding of the business/customer landscape. Understand customer trends–value proposition, buying trends, benchmarking, evaluate customer retention methods, loyalty programs, etc; Manage a small team (one direct report initially) as well as third party agencies (ad, video, graphic design, etc) as well as manage a $2m (and growing) direct ad spend; Evaluate/leverage tools and technology. Make changes and upgrades where necessary; Evaluate, diversify and implement new marketing channels. Serve as a business thinker and thought partner–ask hard questions and suggest creative solutions. Evaluate the team and make suggestions and plans for growing team. Focus on positive change and future growth.
The ideal candidate for this role is a mid-career performance marketer with entrepreneurial experience, extremely strong analytical skills, and a passion for Bitsbox's mission. You are the ambitious, competitive, and determined friend. Most importantly, you believe that the world needs a billion-dollar company that teaches tech skills to all kinds of kids, not just the usual suspects.
3-5+ years in marketing within direct-to-consumer brands (preferably in subscription box businesses); A proven track record of scaling customer acquisition costs and increasing lifetime value while maintaining a brand and customer centric approach above all else; Experience with web and email analytics tools. Google Analytics is your jam. Ability to analyze data and present action insights through data visualizations and clear narratives; Experience partnering with and managing outside firms; Impeccable writing skills and an eye toward design; A desire to teach what you know, and to proactively develop others; A philosophy that marketing starts by understanding the customer and our value proposition; Understanding of small company and/or start-up environments; Proactive communication style. Stays current on industry and customer trends; Track record of growing companies through new product lines and value-added services; Experience with partnerships and/ or community development is a strong plus.

EDUCATION: BA/BS in a related field is preferred. Master's degree a plus. BUT, we care a whole lot more about experience than education.
